Physical Therapy Licensure Compact

The PT Compact allows physical therapists and physical therapist assistants to practice in member states through a Compact Privilege, without obtaining additional state licenses.

Maine has enacted the PT Compact but is not yet operationally issuing or accepting compact privileges. Until Maine completes implementation, you must apply for a Maine PT license by endorsement — even if you hold an active compact license in another state. Verify current status with the Maine Board of Physical Therapy before assuming compact privilege is available.
